Alligator Powered Cars

This may seem like a crazy idea, and one that may make you cringe, but it’s all very possible and very economical.

Researches from the University of Louisiana came up with the idea that alligator fat may be the prefect substitute for fossil-based fuels.

The New York Times states that scientists at the University claim that fat from an alligator could potentially be a better source of biodiesel than current fuels with are usually made from soya and corn.

In the southern states in the US, alligator farming is big business.  The meat is kept as well as the skin and the fat is usually sent to the landfill.

Biofuel from food crops has been widely accepted that they’re not sustainable, while such products are a great alternative.  Currently the US uses 45 billion gallons of diesel per year, and if just 1 billion of that was produced from soybeans, scientists say that would use up 21 per cent of what the country can produce each year.

In the UK, this may seem an odd idea, but in the southern states of the US, alligators are rife.  Your local used cars Wimbledon dealer may have some cars that are bio-fuel powered, so it might be worth visiting them to see what they have.  You could always use sunflower oil in your diesel car to cut the emissions.
